Jack and Misty started Highland back in 2007 to provide expert service with a personal touch. Thanks to our loyal customers, we have grown to become one of the top NATE-certified HVAC contractors in Northern Colorado. But we haven’t forgotten our humble beginnings. We’ll still give you the personal service you expect from a well-run family business.
As we’ve continued to grow, experienced industry veterans have joined our team. Many of them knew Jack and Misty before Highland was formed back in 2007. And they are now part of the Highland family as field technicians, managers, and office staff.

Owners
Jack May
Owner / CEO / Field Service Manager
14 Years HVAC Experience
Jack and his wife, Misty, founded Highland Heating and Air in 2007. Jack is responsible for Highland’s key business relationships and setting the company standards for quality and service. He also oversees procurement and maintenance of our tools, vehicles and equipment so our field technicians are as productive, efficient, and effective as possible.
Every season, Jack will work in the field. He’ll pitch in on at least one of every type of project Highland does. He’ll talk with our customers and work hands-on for the project – not just show up to oversee the large commercial construction projects.
Why does Jack still spend time in the field when he has a growing company to run? He’s found it’s the best way to stay in touch with our customers and staff. And that helps Jack know first hand how we’re doing and where we can improve to do even better.
Jack’s always looking for ways to solve problems and simplify challenging HVAC installations. In 2010, he invented “hot hangers,” the special brackets for tankless water heaters that are now becoming the mounting method of choice for HVAC contractors across the US and Canada. Jack earned a two-year full-time Associates degree in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Technology at Itawamba Community College.
He is NATE certified, ICC Master Mechanical certified and a Rinnai-certified professional.
Misty May
Business Adminsistrator/CFO
15 years HVAC experience
Before founding Highland Heating and Air with her husband Jack, in 2007, Misty had already worked in a variety of positions at several Northern Colorado HVAC companies.
When you call our office, there’s a good chance you’ll hear Misty’s friendly voice on the other end of the phone. In addition to working directly with our customers to make sure you are 110% satisfied, Misty oversees Highland’s marketing, finances, and community involvement. During her free time away from work, Misty enjoys camping, four-wheeling, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
